According to Wacom, the three key features of the two new models are very good pen-on-display performance and colour reproduction, as well as improved ergonomic handling.
About the display: It is 27 inches in size (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and can cover 1.07 trillion colours and thus 97 percent of the Adobe colour spectrum. This is made possible by the Wacom Colour Manager, which is supported by X-Rite and will be available as an accessory in the Wacom eStore.
Wacom also emphasises that with the new model, the interplay of pen input in combination with multi-touch (Cintiq 27QHD touch), on-screen operation, and radial menus is intended to be even more intuitive. The Cintiq Pro Pen allows users to draw or edit images with 2,048 different pressure levels. More intuitive working is said to result above all for the touch version – including touch-capable operating systems and software packages. The new touch model therefore also allows models to be rotated or zoomed with the fingers.
Both models now also include ExpressKey Remote. According to Wacom, this separate portable control unit offers a set of shortcut keys and a touch ring. The ExpressKey Remote can be placed wherever is most comfortable for the person working – either on the screen, in the hand, or next to the keyboard on the desk. Up to five ExpressKey Remotes can be used at the same time. Together with the on-screen controls, this gives the user dozens of options for customising shortcuts.
The 27-inch model also allows the artist to work ergonomically – through a flat position with the integrated stand, or at a 20-degree angle with the stand feet extended. The Cintiq can be adjusted even further with the Ergo Stand or Vesa Arm accessories.
