DaVinci Resolve 11.2 brings, among other things, improvements to the processing of CinemaDNG raw footage. Users can take advantage of the new additions to colour-space transformation when converting raw files for more faithful Rec. 709 and P3 colour-space images. This preserves more colours and nuacnes, which is said to make the footage appear more natural.
In addition, there are now new soft-clip options for converting CinemaDNG raw footage with a high contrast range to the Rec. 709 colour space. The conversion of colours when switching to reduced colour spaces is carried out using new algorithms and is intended to improve the footage significantly.
Version 11.2 is also said to make collaboration with Avid editors easier, as it is now possible to move high-resolution media and sequences back and forth between the two systems. The new DNxHR encoding and decoding allows users to work natively and share the same high-resolution media files. The improved AAF import and export now allows editors and colourists to round-trip projects in Media Composer 8.3 more accurately and reliably.
Additional features brought by DaVinci Resolve 11.2 include the ability to select the RGB pixel order when working in DPX 2.0 files, support for new flags and markers in ColorTrace, and support for Red SDK 5.3.
