After AE import, a model is converted into a set of 3D layers in a single composition, and simple shaders can be used to control the model’s color and transparency.
Colors can be set for individual sub-objects or optionally for all elements at once. In addition, one of the features of OBJ Importer is a Skylight System with which lighting can be simulated without having to add additional light sources to the scene. With "Opacity Falloff", users can create X-ray materials.
Anyone who wants to know exactly can find a 17-page PDF here with all the features of OBJ Importer.
OBJ Importer is compatible with After Effects from version CS 5.5 onward and can work with Mac OSX and Windows. The plug-in can be downloaded here for 21 US dollars. A free tester version is also available.
