Here it is: The animago jury 2015! If you would like to know who exactly will be judging your CG works created with a lot of passion, here is all the information.

The animago jury will meet in Berlin on 10 and 11 August. You have until 30 June to ensure that your entry is also shortlisted there and then possibly take home an animago trophy on 15 October!

Here are all the members, starting with the jury chair Günter Hagedorn, who is the most experienced jury member with 19 animago AWARDS to his name.

Günter Hagedorn – Jury Chair

Jury_G_HagedornGünter Hagedorn is a graphic designer and freelance editor, lives in Hamburg and has been in charge of the animago AWARDS since 1997. He acts almost as a one-man show: from accepting the first submission to organising the jury meeting and award ceremony, he is in constant contact with the DP editorial team in Munich and the participants worldwide.

Alexander Ellendt – Vogelsänger

Alexander Ellendt has been part of Vogelsänger since 1997. in 1999 he took the step to Jury_A_EllendtProducer in 1999, followed by the management of the internationally active company alongside managing director and owner Manfred Vogelsänger in 2005. As Executive Producer, he also manages the v2film, V-LAB and TATORT Studio branches of the company. in 2013, the move to Vogelsänger GmbH (a merger of VS Film GmbH, VS Event GmbH and VS Neue Medien GmbH) was finalised. Today, he is Executive Producer and a member of the Vogelsänger Group’s management team.

Maggy Fischer – Neverest

Jury_M_FischerMaggy Fischer has headed the NEVEREST post-production department since October 2013. Maggy Fischer can look back on over 20 years of experience in the field of post-production. The business graduate was previously the co-founder of Second Unit Services, Stereolize and Ventuz as well as managing director of Pictorion das werk in Frankfurt and Munich. Neverest is a full-service agency for strategy, design and production of digital content.

Mirja Fürst – Digital Production

Mirja Fürst is an editor at the trade magazine Digital Production and is responsible for the animagoJury_M_Fuerst animago’s online and print editorial teams. She studied communication sciences, art history and sociology in Aachen, moved to Munich after graduating and began an internship at a post-production company. It was here that she discovered her love for the range of topics covered by DP. Story specialities include performance capturing, LIDAR scanning, open source tools (see also the next issue of DP, which will be published on 10 July) and interesting animation and VFX film projects away from the usual looks and mainstream stories.

Sinje Gebauer – VFX & CG Producer

Jury_S_GebauerSinje Gebauer – VFX & CG Producer Sinje Gebauer studied Production at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and specialised in VFX and Animation Producing. After a period at Jellyfish Pictures in London, she moved to Munich, where she still works as a freelance VFX and CG producer. Sinje Gebauer has already worked on productions such as “The Little Ghost”, “Captain America 2” and the “Vampire Sisters” series and “Heidi”. She teaches VFX producing at the HFF Munich, is involved in the school cinema weeks to introduce children to the medium of film and organises the VFX regulars’ table in Munich. Here is her website.

Florian Gellinger – RISE | Visual Effects Studios Berlin

Jury_F_GellingerRegular DP readers certainly need no further introduction to RISE | Visual Effects Studios, the studio regularly provides us with great making-ofs and industry insights, has recently expanded and opened a new location in Stuttgart at FMX (see DP issue 03 : 2014, “More locations, more VFX!”) Florian Gellinger has been working as a visual effects designer in compositing and 3D for over a decade, founding RISE with three friends in 2007. The studio has already worked on projects such as the TV series “Borgia” (see DP 07 : 2014), “Cloud Atlas” (see DP 02 : 2013), “Avengers – Age of Ultron” and “Iron Man 3”, while new projects include Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” and Tom Tykwer’s “A Hologram for the King”.

Angela Kern – GA University of Applied Sciences Berlin

Angela Kern started out in the DEFA Studio in classical animation for feature filmsJury_A_Kern the early 90s she switched to moving image editing on the computer. She then worked as a broadcasting designer for various television stations, from 2003 to 2006 she worked as a freelance art director and was also involved as a freelance lecturer at various universities. in 2007, she was appointed the first female professor for on-air design at the Mediadesign University. There she established the Digital Film Design programme, which she headed for several years. Angela Kern has been active at the GA Hochschule der digitalen Gesellschaft in Berlin since 2014 and has headed the “Digital Art” department since April 2015.

Michael Landgrebe – VFX-Supervisor Celluloid Visual Effects

Jury_M_LandgrebeMichael Landgrebe gained his first experience in 3D computer graphics back in the late 80s. With DKB-Trace, a script-controlled ray tracer, he spent many a night in front of the computer. Once infected with the computer graphics virus, he couldn’t get away from it and eventually studied “Film and Digital Image Design” at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. Since then, he has worked as a freelance VFX supervisor for a number of VFX companies. The co-founding of Celluloid VFX was the logical step in realising his vision of a haven of artistic and technical expertise.

Csaba Letay – Polynoid/WOODBLOCK

Jury_C_LetayCsaba Letay studied “Animation/Digital Effects” at the Institute for Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg from 2004. In 2008 he worked as a digital artist at BUCK Inc. in Los Angeles, California. After returning from the USA, he joined Polynoid in 2009, his graduation film was “Loom” (animago winner 2010). studio Polynoid was officially founded in 2011, and the second production company Woodblock was added in 2013(see DP 05 : 2014, “Everything new at Polynoid?”).

Thomas Zauner – Scanline VFX

Jury_T_ZaunerThomas Zauner has been Managing Director of Scanline VFX since its foundation in 1989. Scanline VFX has offices in Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart (in the process of being founded), Los Angeles and Vancouver and is known above all for its pioneering water simulations. In 2008, the studio received the Technology Oscar for its underlying Flowline technology. Scanline’s project portfolio includes “Captain America”, “300”, “Snowpiercer” and “Who am I” (see making-of DP issue 01 : 2015)

Elmar Giglinger – Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg

Jury_E_GiglingerElmar Giglinger has been Managing Director of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg since October 2010 and is responsible for the business divisions Location Marketing & Development and Promotion of Location Projects & Innovative Audiovisual Content.

Since 1 January 2004, the company has been responsible for film promotion and location marketing in the capital region. Ina Göring – Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg

Jury_I_GoeringIna Göring has been responsible for funding location projects and innovative audiovisual content at Medienboard since 2013. This includes digital content such as games, apps and transmedia projects based on new technologies and platforms. She holds a degree in film and television production from the renowned HFF Babelsberg and worked for many years in the film industry as well as in the media team of the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg and as a lecturer.

Entries for this year’s animago AWARD can still be submitted until 30 June! Any type of project is possible, the only requirement is VFX, CG or 3D animation work. All information at www.animago.com
