The ninth episode of the fifth season of “Game of Thrones,” entitled “The Dance of Dragons,” was honoured in the “Outstanding Special Visual Effects” category. The studios Mackevision, Pixomondo and Rodeo FX, among others, were involved in the fifth season. Mackevision from Munich primarily created the landscapes and buildings; the work can be seen in their breakdown video:
Rodeo FX from Montreal created 200 VFX shots, and the team also collected its Emmy in person:

For “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” Episode 4, “Edward Mordrake, Part 2,” received the Emmy in the “Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role” category.
