Perpetual licences for individual desktop software products will be available until January 31, 2016, and for the Design & Creation Suite until the end of July. At the end of July, simplified subscription options for access to various Autodesk products and sharing licences are then expected to be available. The customised subscription options are intended to make the transition from perpetual licences to the new offering system smoother.
According to Autodesk, the subscription model will offer lower upfront costs and the option of pay-as-you-go for Autodesk products and cloud services over periods of several years, annually, quarterly or monthly. This is intended to enable studios and companies to adapt their pipelines more quickly to project requirements and produce at lower cost.
Anyone who purchases a perpetual licence for the Autodesk Design & Creation Suite before July 31 will continue to have full usage rights for this licence; owners of a maintenance licence can also continue to use all its benefits as long as it is renewed.
