The technology behind Fuse CC comes from Adobe’s acquisition of Mixamo, which took place in early 2015. With the new Fuse app, even inexperienced character animators are supposed to be able to model a 3D character and animate it in Photoshop CC in just a few minutes. The avatars can be assembled from body parts and modified in terms of skin color, muscle mass, body hair and similar features. Ready-made templates are also available for clothing. The personalized 3D people can then, as before, be uploaded to Mixamo or saved in the Creative Cloud Library and subsequently placed in a Photoshop CC project. You can find a step-by-step Adobe tutorial for creating a character here.
In Photoshop, the figures can then be animated using controls in the expanded Properties panel—with limited modification options. Settings for light and textures are also available there, and the Fuse textures can be adjusted with Photoshop’s drawing tools. The Adobe tutorial for this is available here.
The complete Creative Cloud subscription costs around 60 euros per month; single-product subscriptions are also available—the one for Photoshop, for example, costs around 24 euros.
