Until 1963, the Special Effects Oscar was awarded, and visual and sound effects were still grouped together in this category. Since 1963, sound effects and visual effects have been honoured separately. In this supercut, you can see all the films that received an Oscar in the “Visual Effects” category from 1963 to 2015.
“Star Wars” impressed with its effects in 1977; will “The Force Awakens” manage it again? We will find out on February 28, 2016.
