Time-limited licences are “in”, to make it easier for users to get started with software and allow larger studios to adjust their licence stock to a production at short notice. And with Cinema 4D, this was difficult until now.
New Licence for … ?
Maxon now offers so-called Short-Term licences for Cinema 4D Studio with a fixed, defined term. The Short-Term licences are available exclusively as downloads. The installations are therefore also up and running quickly, and serial-number-dependent plug-ins can be used with the Short-Term licences. These are being added to the range (!); permanent licences remain available without changes or restrictions.
Again: The perpetual licence model for Cinema 4D Studio, Visualize, Broadcast and Prime, as well as Bodypaint, remains in place.
Term and Scope
The Short-Term licences are available with terms of three and six months, and expire at the end of the term (after a warning two weeks before expiry). The licences can be extended and reactivated flexibly, including with breaks in between. Short-Term licences are not comparable to a subscription and are not renewed automatically.
It is interesting that older versions can still be obtained after the annual update (if desired), so existing pipelines are not disrupted. Floating multi-licences are also available, although the Maxon Licence Server (MLS) required to manage these licences is not included in the price of the Short-Term licences. An already installed licence server can of course also be used to manage Short-Term licences.
Oh yes, and if the artist no longer wants to switch off their C4D after the quarter: Short-Term licences can be upgraded to a permanent licence at a reduced price.
And It Costs …
