AEP & TD

The Animation/Effects Producing (AEP) and Technical Directing (TD) specialisations are primarily designed as two-year postgraduate courses with lateral entry into the project course:

Animation/Effects Producing (AEP) specifically trains students to work as producers with a focus on animation and VFX projects. During their studies, the aspiring producers take responsibility for their teams and lead various projects to success. Alongside practical training, the curriculum includes special events and workshops on production-related topics such as budgeting, scheduling, project management and team building. Applicants should have a degree or practical experience in production, business administration, media, design or communication, as well as organisational and communication skills.

Technical Directing (TD) trains students to become Technical Directors for animation and VFX projects. The Technical Director is responsible for the technical management of an animated film project, meaning that they manage the technical aspects of film production. By working on projects at the Animationsinstitut, TDs learn, among other things, to develop suitable tools and plug-ins, solve problems, automate processes and define workflows and pipelines. They also take an active part in the institute’s research projects. Applicants should have completed a first degree in computer science or a related subject.

Interested parties can find detailed information about the courses, individual specialisations and application process on the Animationsinstitut website. Applications themselves are submitted through the Filmakademie’s registrar’s office. So, just under two months remain to apply by May 15, and take the next step in your career!
