Following the last major workstation test in DP 05 : 16, we took a closer look at further workstations from Dell, HP and MSI. On the software side, workshops on Flame 2017, After Effects 2016 and Cinema 4D & Octane are included, among others.
Commercials & Films
3ds Max, Flame and Realflow were used for an image spot for the family business Rügenwalder Mühle—we explain exactly how. We also spoke with Scanline VFX and Weta Digital about producing the visual effects for “Superman v Batman”, and Arri shows in detail how the workflow for the German fantasy film “Smaragdgrün” proceeded. Korea also delivers great VFX work, as demonstrated by the CG tiger from studio 4th Party Korea for the feature film “The Tiger”.
Digital Art & animago Making-ofs
Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is a regular among the animago nominees every year, this year including the animated short film “Auster”. The team reports on the production process of the fast-paced adventure experienced by a little boy when he does not want to eat his oyster.
We also love detail-obsessed CG art, so we asked how “Halloween Pub Crawl” by Michael Fedichkin and “52Hz” by Cornelius Dämmrich (see news image) were created.
Last year, Axis Animation impressed the animago jury with the announcement trailer for the game “Dying Light” from Polish game developer Techland—read in DP 06 : 16 how the fast-paced zombie chase, accompanied by Woodkid’s “Run Boy Run”, was created.
