Whether for a mass of creatures or people for cities, battles, or stadiums—crowd simulation software can be helpful in such cases. The company Golaem, founded in 2009, has specialised in precisely this area, and today the software of the same name is used in well-known productions such as “Game of Thrones” or “The Walkig Dead.” Incidentally, “Crowd Simulation” will be the focus of one of our issues next year—so keep your eyes open in the crush of the crowds ;-)
What Can Golaem Do?
The tool covers a wide range of features that one expects from a crowd simulation tool. These include gemetry and shading variations, procedural animations, simulation layout, behaviour editor, physics simulations, environmental interaction (and a great deal more). You can view the complete feature list here. There is also a short demo video:
And the Cost?
Golaem can be tested permanently free of charge and with all features in a “PLE” version. However, this is watermarked. The paid full licences then cost 130€/ month for “Golaem Layout” and 650€/month for the full “Golaem.” You can find an overview of the princing structure here.
