Creating Hair & Fur with Modo

Simulating fur is a very demanding task. Learn how to do this in Modo in this workshop, which can be downloaded free of charge.

Fur was first introduced in Modo in version 401 in mid-2009 as “Fur Material” and has since developed into a complex system with which extremely complex and very interesting settings can be realized in the current version in combination with the Physics Engine, material system, and Paint Tools. In this article, André Löscher gives you a few ideas for this—but ultimately, working with Hair & Fur is also a good deal of fun, because here the journey is definitely the destination. A perfect example of this is Andy Probst’s solution for generating water droplets on a can … using fur. So, think laterally!
