The FMX (May 2 to 5 in Stuttgart) is proud to welcome two speakers at FMX who worked on Oscar winner “Piper”: Krzysztof Rost (Pixar) explains how it was possible to simulate the sand for the animated short film deceptively realistically, and Eric Smitt speaks about the Lighting & Rendering.
In addition, two further projects and creators who were also nominated in the “Short Film: Animated” category will be represented: Robert Valley, who became known through his music videos and was able to take home an Annie Award a few weeks ago for “Pear Cider and Cigarettes,” and Theodore Ushev, who is currently enchanting the international animated-film audience with “Blind Vaysha.”
Also “Vaiana,” which was able to hope for an Oscar as an animated feature film just as “Kubo – The Brave Samurai” was, which was additionally nominated for its visual effects, are a focus at FMX. Florian Gellinger (Rise FX) complements the round of nominees with a case study on “Doctor Strange.”
Further Programme Items
This year, too, renowned independent figures will gather in the “Animation Wild & Strange” track, and Patrick Hanenberger (The Neuland) will again curate presentations on “Concept Art” in 2017. Mike Seymour will oversee the “Digital Humans Forum” as curator. Alongside these topics, there will of course also be events on VR, games and the latest technologies for the CG industry.
