The animago jury meeting will take place on 11 July 2017 at the premises of NEC Display Solutions in Munich. As every year, the jury members will view the entries submitted for the animago AWARD and assess them in terms of animation, overall CG quality and storytelling. The jury meeting will be chaired by Günter Hagedorn. So: Don’t hesitate to submit! The deadline is 31 May 2017. animago AWARD & CONFERENCE will take place on 7 & 8 September at Gasteig Munich.

Günter Hagedorn has been working as a freelance graphic designer and programmer in Hamburg for many years and has also been extensively involved in photography since 2004. He has been involved with the event since the first animago in 1997 and is currently co-organiser and jury chairman. At the animago, he is not only responsible for the website, but is also entrusted with the organisation of the competition. This includes, for example, communicating with the participants, organising the jury meetings, providing creative advice for the animago trailer and directing the award ceremony. Melanie Beisswenger works internationally as a character animator and filmmaker. Her animation credits include “Happy Feet 1 2”, the TV launch spot for the game “BioShock” and “Iron Man 3”. Recent German productions Melanie has worked on include the animated feature film “Der 7bte Zwerg”, and the book adaptations “Saphirblau” and “Smaragdgrün”, where she was the lead animator for the digital 3D character. In addition to previous teaching positions in Singapore and at The Animation Workshop, Melanie has been a professor of computer animation in the Time-Based Media programme at Mainz University of Applied Sciences since 2014.

Alexander Bouquet has been Head of Postproduction at the advertising agency Jung von Matt for several years. Other previous professional stations such as Mackevision and Recom form his career and characterise above all his focus on the automotive sector. Based in Stuttgart, his main area of responsibility is the transfer of ideas from creation into strong advertising motifs. Photography, CGI and post-production form the core profession of the native Saarlander. Motion design was integrated into the team as an additional discipline. His clients include brands such as Grundig, Mercedes, Audi, Mini, Kärcher, Porsche, Vodafone and many more. Alexander Bouquet also works as a photographer in the field of landscape and still photography. He is also a visiting professor at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, where he teaches the Virtual Photography module in his former Virtual Design degree programme.
Maggy Fischer has been head of the Neverest post-production department since October 2013 and can look back on over 20 years of experience in the field of post-production. The business graduate was previously the co-founder of the companies Second Unit Services, Stereolize and Ventuz as well as managing director of the post-production company Pictorion das Werk in Frankfurt and Munich. Neverest is a full-service agency for strategy, design and production of digital content as well as a creative lab and film production. The company is a member of the Serviceplan Group.
Mirja Fürst is an editor at the trade magazine Digital Production (DP) and is responsible for the animago online and print editorial teams. She studied communication sciences, art history and sociology in Aachen, moved to Munich after graduating and began an internship at a post-production company. It was here that she discovered her love for the range of topics covered by DP. Robert Hoffmeister has worked at Industrial Light & Magic as Lead Artist and Sequence Supervisor since 2002. His work there included “Pirates of the Caribbean 2, 3 and 4”, “Rango”, “Harry Potter 4 and 5”, “Indian Jones 4”, “Mission Impossible 3” and “Star Wars Episode 2 and 3”. in 2011, Robert moved to Disney Animation to develop a digital CG and stop motion pipeline as VFX supervisor and stereoscopic director. Back in Munich, Robert worked as a VFX supervisor for Trixter Film in 2012 on projects such as “Iron Man 3”, “Seventh Son” and “Wolfblood”. in 2014, he founded the Munich-based company Milkroom Studios GmbH, which creates mobile games, AR applications and location-based games through to VR theme park rides for international clients such as Mattel, Europa-Park, A&E-Network etc.
Elisa Krenz studied Multimedia Virtual Reality Design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. After graduating in 2009, she moved to Munich and has been working as a freelancer ever since. Her repertoire includes illustration, graphic design, motion graphics, 3D animation, brand identity and corporate design. She has worked for TV channels such as Fox and Sky as well as for design and animation studios such as Aixsponza, Perfect Accident and Gate11. As creative director, she has overseen various projects, from concept to production. With a focus on on-air design, she has created new designs for channels including B2, Das Erste, Astro and Nova.

Rolf Mütze is co-founder and managing director of the VFX and animation studio Lavalabs Moving Images, which he runs together with Michael Brink. He regularly teaches at the HS Düsseldorf and has been a professor specialising in Digital Film Arts at the International Film School Cologne since 2015. Rolf Mütze studied Visual Communication at Münster University of Applied Sciences and Computer Arts at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He has worked internationally for Disney in London and Weta in New Zealand, among others, and his project credits include “The Hobbit”, “Cloud Atlas” and “The Barschel Case”.
Juri Stanossek started his VFX career in 1994 and after his first experiences with 3D visualisations and visual effects in the industrial sector, he began working as a freelance digital artist and compositor. Juri Stanossek has been a VFX supervisor at Mackevision since 2013 and has supervised the visual effects in productions such as “The Cut” (2014), “Der Wittwenmacher” (2015) and “Gotthard” (2016). Juri Stanossek has also been a guest lecturer at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy since 2010.
As VFX supervisor,Dominik Zimmerle was most recently responsible for Trixter Film ‘s work on the films “Ant-Man” and “Independence Day: Resurgence”. Prior to that, he was compositing supervisor on “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and worked as lead compositor on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, “Iron Man 3” and “Cloud Atlas”, among others. He entered the VFX industry as an intern in Trixter’s concept art department after completing his communication design studies at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
