Houdini’s HeightFields are a toolset with which you create procedural areas, especially landscapes. You then place 2D textures over them. Normally, Redshift cannot process 2D material. However, in this tutorial, Manuel Casasola Merkle reveals how you can overcome this obstacle with a short detour. This allows you to check your work on the HeightFields directly.
Contents of the Tutorial
- Determining the HeightField content
• Designing the landscape
• Importing the volumes into a COP2 network
• Building the render material
• Preparing the rendering geometry
• Test render
• Creating displacements
