What Exactly Is HDR?

High Dynamic Range

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, means a high dynamic range, and is a term from display technology. If a display has a high dymanic range, it shines significantly brighter and reproduces darker black tones than displays with an SDS (Standard Dynamic Range) or LDR (Low Dynamic Range). The reason for this is that, as with OLED technology, the display contains pixels that can be switched off completely. In short: the range from maximum to minimum brightness is larger than before. The increased image contrast ultimately leads to more perceived sharpness and a broader color spectrum. Will HDR prevail? Proponents of the technology assume so, since the improved image quality is also recognizable to laypeople.
