At Siggraph, AMD has now released the new ProRender 2.0—now also with support for Blender 2.80. Following the official Blender release a few days ago, you can download the free renderer directly here. (Windows, Mac and Linux)
Radeon ProRender 2.0 highlights
With the update, the renderer receives adaptive sampling, new rendering options and AMD’s new AI-accelerated denoising, among other things. With the denoiser (Microsoft® DirectML), ProRender is said to be able to render up to 18 times faster during lookdev in the viewport. You can find further information here.
AMD also announced new native integrations of Radeon ProRender. At release, the new Maxon Cinema 4D Release 21 is intended to receive the node-based material system, volume rendering, as well as improved motion blur and multi-pass options.
Blender 2.80 support and Maya update
The Blender plug-in is a completely new release to support various problems, new features and the current Blender version. The new features include:
- Native shader nodes from Blender are supported, including the Principled Shader Node, Principled Volume and Hair BSDF Shader.
- AI-accelerated denoiser as a new filter type (Blender, 3ds Max, Maya)
- Adaptive sampling with a custom noise threshold to reduce render times (Blender, 3ds Max, Maya)
The Maya plug-in (only for Windows and MacOS) also received an update with a tile-rendering option, better viewport interactivity and portal-light support. Ramps can also be used as input values for volumes. You can find all other updates here in the release notes.

Radeon ProRender is now available free on the website. You can view the features of the current ProRender 2.0 version in detail on the newly created pages for Blender and Maya:
- Blender 2.80 runs under Windows (7, 10), Mac and Linux.
- Maya plug-in 2.7 runs under Windows and Mac
