Fairlight Desktop Console | Release

Can do more: The new mixing console from Blackmagic.

New hardware from Blackmagic

As DP reported yesterday, the release of DaVinci 17 comes with some exciting features. When it comes to software, Blackmagic’s appetite for release knows no bounds, with two hardware releases demanding our attention: the Fairlight Desktop Console and the Resolve Speed Editor Console. Here we take a look at the Fairlight Desktop Console.

Fairlight Desktop Console

The uninformed ask: Why is the Fairlight Desktop Console? We answer: the Fairlight Desktop Console is a portable control surface for mixing several tracks at the same time.

The controls include: 12 motorised faders, precision knobs and illuminated buttons – with which you can quickly find and control the channel you are looking for. With the help of the controls, Blackmagic puts EQ, dynamics, plug-ins and more at your fingertips.

A nice extra: an LCD has been installed above the channel strip of each fader, which displays information about the different tracks. You can also connect a screen via an HDMI output if you wish.

Control is not only at your fingertips, but also in the function assignment of the buttons and controls. Why is that? Because you use the Contol Function Selector button to determine which button and which knob should control which function.

Everything else

The smart device can be in your shopping basket from December. Until then, we recommend reading the corresponding product page at Blackmagic to weigh up your purchase decision.
