Mari 4.7

Foundry released Mari 4.7. The update centred on four areas: collaboration, a new procedural-mask workflow, an improved Shelf palette and material-system development.

Key features

For collaboration, switching between Mari and Katana was made faster and easier for look-development artists. Mari texture files could, for example, be exported natively into Katana’s rendering workflow.

The new procedural-mask workflow let artists deploy mesh-accelerated procedural mask presets quickly, while also editing, sharing and reusing procedural templates.

The redesigned Shelf palette provided access to a library of presets through an interface tailored to digital artists, including large graphical previews.

Changes to the material system simplified the construction of complex layered materials. Mari 4.7 allowed artists to inspect materials in isolation without repeatedly changing layer visibility.
