In brief: The International Film School Cologne (ifs) launched its new master’s programme in Entertainment Producing on 23 September 2021.
Programme: Across four semesters, the course addressed the development, production and exploitation of non-fiction entertainment formats. Its aim was to help media professionals progress towards work as entertainment producers.
The first cohort comprised 14 students from Germany and Switzerland. Most already had industry experience in areas such as editorial work, concept development, producing, production management, casting, social-media content, screenwriting, directing or editing.
Leadership: Professor and format specialist Jennifer Mival led what the school described as the first German-language entertainment master’s programme. Her previous roles included responsibility for Netflix’s Nonfiction Series Originals in German-speaking Europe and Scandinavia, as well as executive positions at Seapoint, ITV Studios and ProSiebenSat.1 and programming leadership at Joiz.
Digital Production previously interviewed Mival for DP 03:2021. A related archive report covers the ifs MA Film programme.
