In brief: Autodesk released 3ds Max 2022.2 with a focus on workspace security, more efficient workflows and improved modelling tools.

Key changes: Autodesk highlighted faster scene-file saving and improved UV editing through the Unfold3D algorithm in the UVW modifier.

Smart Extrude gained further refinements for editable poly objects, while tablet-pen pressure handling was improved. The UV Editor window adapted more effectively to display resolution and used a higher-resolution black-and-white checker map.

The Symmetry modifier also received an updated welding algorithm designed to find matching vertices more precisely across mirrored surfaces. The release included additional bug fixes across the application.
