In brief: Adobe released After Effects 22.0 with multi-frame rendering as its principal performance feature.

Rendering: Multi-frame rendering used multiple CPU cores concurrently for previews and final output. Adobe cited gains of roughly 1.2 to 1.4 times on four- or six-core processors and up to four times on a 16-core CPU with 48 GB of RAM. These figures were vendor estimates and depended on composition and hardware.

Workflow: The revised render queue supported remote notifications. Cinema 4D Lite integration gained access to the Cinema 4D Asset Browser.

Versioning: Adobe aligned its video applications around version 22 at Adobe MAX, moving After Effects from the preceding 18-series numbering.

Adobe documented the release in its After Effects 2022 feature summary. Digital Production previously covered After Effects 17.5.
