ZBrush joins Maxon’s portfolio

Maxon agreed to acquire the assets of Pixologic, developer of the ZBrush sculpting and painting application. The transaction was expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021, with both companies operating independently until completion.

Pixologic founder and CEO Ofer Alon and his team were due to join Maxon after closing. Additional product and business details had not yet been announced.

Production footprint

ZBrush had become a standard sculpting tool across film, television and games, with credited use on franchises including Dune, Star Wars, Avatar, Marvel productions, Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Acquisition plans and licensing can change after publication, so verify the current product structure before production use.
