Geometry and viewport changes

3ds Max 2022.3 extended Smart Extrude so cuts could cross multiple edge bodies on one mesh and handle non-planar quads and n-gons more cleanly. New viewport filters let artists choose displayed categories and object types with finer control.

Pipeline and shading

Pipeline integration was revised for environments that need separate project settings, user preferences, scripts and plug-ins. Advanced Wood in Open Shading Language added procedural maple, walnut and oak materials for OSL-compatible renderers.

Autodesk claimed file saving was up to 25 percent faster than the previous release. Treat that as a vendor measurement and benchmark representative scenes before production rollout.
