Oscar® Academy Award for the development of RenderMan!

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present an Oscar® to Rob Cook, Loren Carpenter and Ed Catmull of Pixar on 3 March 2001.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present an Oscar® to Rob Cook, Loren Carpenter and Ed Catmull of Pixar for their contributions to the development of RenderMan software on 3 March 2001 at the Beverly Wishire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The announcement was made today by Academy President Robert Rehme.

RenderMan was not only used in Pixar’s own films “Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2” and “A Bug’s Life,” but in many other films, such as “Jurassic Park,” “Titanic,” “The Matrix” and “Gladiator.”
