Media 100’s 844/X received three Best of Show honours for innovation and technical performance at NAB 2002 in Las Vegas.

The Vidy and Star awards recognised innovation in video technology. The Pick Hit highlighted technologies that offered new capabilities and improved video-production workflow. Judges cited the 844/X debut and its effect on everyday professional production.
Giles Rae, Media 100 Vice President of Technology, said the company had spent more than four years developing real-time effects processing with 10-bit image quality and a new content-design workflow.
The desktop system supported real-time image processing with 10-bit internal precision for complex, layer-heavy audiovisual content. It targeted broadcast designers, visual-effects specialists and online editors using standard PC hardware.
Availability
The worldwide base configuration included a dual-processor 1.7 GHz Compaq W8000 workstation, Matrox G550 graphics card, Wacom 6×8 tablet and 360 GB disk array. Its price was €78,995 through authorised resellers.
