Oxford, 5 November 2002. Vicon began worldwide shipments of Vicon iQ, a unified application for processing motion-capture data from acquisition through animation.

Automation tools reduced the manual editing normally required for complex interactions involving several characters. By retaining data from each processing stage, the software helped users find and correct errors without compromising the complete dataset.

Integrated workflow

Functions included a kinematic model builder, graphical marker-set editor, graph-based motion editing, labelling, gap filling and biomechanical skeleton fitting. Direct export supported Kaydara MotionBuilder and Alias|Wavefront Maya.

Quality-assurance feedback accompanied changes to captured data, and users could combine automated and manual editing tools. A worldwide beta programme covered film, television, game development and motion-capture service facilities.

Vicon iQ was included with new Vicon systems and sold through the company and its resellers. It belongs to the motion-capture archive.
