Incite released Editor 3.0, a nonlinear editing system for broadcast and post-production environments based on Matrox DigiSuite MAX hardware. The redesigned interface supported editing while material was still being captured.

A built-in Task Server could render jobs locally or distribute them across a render farm while the editor continued working. The release also expanded media and metadata management, shared-storage support and collaborative production over a SAN.

Editor 3.0 combined real-time video and audio effects with compositing under Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional. Projects could move between proxy, DV, standard-definition and high-definition formats as production requirements changed.
