Greatnet New Media launched two virtual-server hosting packages, positioning them as a higher-performance alternative to conventional shared hosting. The provider said it would limit each server to 60 customers, compared with much larger user counts on some competing services.

Contracts had a minimum term of three months, monthly billing and a €9.60 setup fee. The Starter package cost €14.99 per month and included the Confixx Pro administration interface; Virtual Server Plus cost €19.99 per month and added web space and traffic capacity.

Both packages included a .de domain, additional domains, a fixed IP address, full root access, CGI and PHP support, SQL databases, cron jobs, remote rebooting and custom software installation. Customers could choose SUSE Linux 8.0, Red Hat Linux 8.0 or Debian 3.0.
