The Cyberarts 2002 publication surveyed work recognised by the Prix Ars Electronica, the international media-art competition founded in 1987. Its broad definition of art covered the internet, interactive work, computer animation, visual effects and digital music.
The selection included experimental projects, commercial work by companies such as Pixar and BUF, and contributions by children and young people. The bilingual English/German book contained 250 full-colour pages.
The book cost €28, while a €20 DVD presented the winning computer-animation and visual-effects works. Hannes Leopoldseder and Christine Schöpf edited the Hatje Cantz volume.
