PNY Technologies announced shipments of its Verto GeForce FX 5800 Ultra graphics card, based on NVIDIA’s GeForce FX architecture. The board included 128 MB of DDR-II memory and ran at 500 MHz. PNY promoted its 3D performance and visual effects as delivering a real-time cinematic experience on the PC. Connections comprised VGA, DVI and VIVO, while integrated hardware handled MPEG-2 decompression.
Buyers could choose either a 256 MB PNY PC memory module—SDR or DDR—or a 256 MB PNY CompactFlash card as part of the package.
The Verto GeForce FX 5800 Ultra was scheduled for retail availability at the end of February 2003 for €629 including VAT. The box contained a driver CD, German manual, DVI-to-VGA adapter for dual-monitor operation, video input/output adapter cable, NVIDIA’s NVDVD software player and the game Morrowind. PNY specified a five-year warranty.
