The IBC 2003 Discreet Digital Cinema Workshop – Saturday, 13.09.2003, 13.00-15.00 – describes the digital color grading and digital intermediate process for digital cinema postproduction. The workshop is rounded out with insights that Discreet’s partner Colorfront gathered with its color grading applications, especially in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. High-resolution film productions in 2K and HDTV receive special consideration. The advantages of editing content digitally are significant and the transition to hybrid environments for multiformat productions are the prerequisites for helping digital cinema gain wider acceptance. The workshop shows a production with Discreet’s Lustre, which offers colorists the opportunity to create new designs and film looks.
