The high-definition version has been upgraded with HD editing capabilities on the software side and can optionally be expanded with the Avid DNxcel HD Board on the hardware side. This offers comprehensive support for various formats and resolutions from all common HD decks and cameras. The board also supports Avid’s 10-bit DNxHD format in mastering quality. The encoding technology makes it possible to retain HD image quality throughout the complete post-production process and allows professional users to work with 10-bit HD media in a collaborative shared-storage environment in real time. The Media Composer Adrenaline HD System also offers multicamera functionality in SD and HD and permits several HD, SD and DV formats and resolutions to be mixed in the same timeline. HD monitoring is carried out cost-effectively via a Digital Visual Interface (DVI) output, and DVCPRO HD media is recorded and output via an IEEE-1394 connection. The system initially supports the following frame rates: 720p/59.94, 1080p/23.976, 1080p/25, 1080i/50, and 1080i/59.94. During the course of the year, 720p/23.976, 1080p/24, 720p/50 and 720p/29.97 are to be added. In terms of new software features, Media Composer Adrenaline HD offers RGB offline options for file-based workflows with Avid DS Nitris, SpectraMatte 16-bit HD/SD Chroma Keyer and an extensive effects and keying framework with the new AVX 2.0 effects architecture.
The system, consisting of Media Composer Adrenaline HD 2.0 software and Avid Adrenaline hardware, is available at a price of 23,100 euros. The optional Avid DNxcel Board can be purchased for an additional 9,300 euros. For the time being, the products are certified for the HP workstations xw8200 and xw8000 as well as for the other existing Media Composer Adrenaline Windows XP platforms. Support for the Mac platform is to follow during the course of the year. Customers who do not need comprehensive HD I/O capabilities or real-time functionality for previewing HD effects, but want to import, natively edit and render Avid DNxHD and DVCPRO HD media, can purchase the Media Composer Adrenaline HD System without the Avid DNxcel Board. Upgrades to Media Composer Adrenaline HD 2.0 software are available free of charge to existing customers with an Avid Assurance contract.
