Participants in the workshop at VCC’s cinema were users, colourists and technical managers from postproduction houses and television broadcasters in northern Germany.

In addition to the key features of Spirit 4K and Spirit 2K as well as LUTher for 3D colour-space conversion, the software-based “Bones” solution was presented in great detail. This included the widest variety of application modules, such as “Bones Repair” for image restoration and “Bones Stabilizer” for image stabilisation. In addition, film clips were shown that had been created with Spirit DataCine or scanners as well as with Grass Valley postproduction systems.

“The workshop offered a good opportunity to learn more about Grass Valley’s latest products for film postproduction and to see how they meet today’s technical and commercial requirements for an efficient workflow,” Werner Fuchs, spokesman for VCC’s executive board, summed up the event.

The Grass Valley workflow for postproduction provides solutions such as “Specter FS”, “Bones” with its many application modules and “LUTher” for 3D colour-space conversion. In the area of film transfer and scanning, three different products are available: “Shadow Telecine” for SD and HD, “Spirit 2K DataCine” for SD, HD and 2K real-time scanning, and “Spirit 4K Film Scanner” for SD, HD, 2K and 4K data.
