IBC: Chyron Expands Character Generator Product Line

Duet LX and MicroX Debut as Cost-Effective, Scalable Solutions

Both systems deliver broadcast-quality graphics as well as real-time animation options. The Duet LX is positioned as a scalable solution that offers the functionality of the Duet LEX at an affordable price. The Duet MicroX is a compact single-channel character generator that accommodates the features of the Duet LX in a 2-RU chassis. Both systems are equipped with the Lyric graphics application, which enables 2D and 3D graphics as well as real-time animations, easy-to-use online and offline graphics creation and editing, and interoperability with NCS operations via Chyron MOS. Various upgrade options can add 3D object editing, macro scripting and execution, 2D text effects and a Clip Control Panel, among other things, to the character generators. By installing an upgrade suite, both systems can be upgraded to a single-channel Duet LEX.

The MicroX updates text and graphics from a wide variety of sources and is suitable as a central character generator in smaller studios or as a dedicated channel in larger facilities. The Highspeed Digital Video Processing Board enables complete test anti-aliasing. An internal keyer with bypass functionality, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet output and a dual-redundant hot-swappable power supply round out the equipment.

The Duet LX is likewise based on a Highspeed Digital Video Processing Board and supports up to three independent or linked channels, plus an optional Single or Dual Clip Player module. The 4-RU chassis has a Gigabit Ethernet output. A PCI Squeezeback Board and a C-Mix Multi-Layer SD Mixer are optionally available.

Also new for IBC, Chyron is showing the Lyric 3D+ graphics engine on the Duet HyperX HD/SD character generators at booth 341 in hall 3. The software can be used to implement 3D design features quickly and efficiently in live applications.
