AJA Announces Kona LH Video Capture Card

Flexible capture product for Power Mac G5 systems running Final Cut Studio

AJA Video Systems’ new Kona LH is intended to be the first PCI card on the Macintosh to work under Mac OS X with Final Cut Studio Pro while providing both SD and HD video inputs. Analogue or digital video is processed uncompressed at 10-bit colour depth.

The card integrates hardware acceleration for DVCPRO, HDV and Dynamic RT Extreme and provides two independent SDI outputs. Analogue inputs are converted internally at 12-bit precision, while HD-to-SD conversion is performed at 10-bit precision.

Audio sources can connect through AES/EBU or analogue inputs, both in stereo over XLR, with signals processed at 24-bit resolution. The Kona LH can also process eight channels of embedded SDI audio. The board provides hardware-assisted sample-rate conversion, intended to remove synchronization concerns when several different sample rates are used within a project. The optional KL-Box can bring the connections to the front of a 19-inch rack when the supplied breakout cables are too short.

AJA is exhibiting at IBC in hall 7, stand 610. The Kona LH costs around $1,800.
