Avid now also supports the HDV format: All users who purchase a Media Composer Adrenaline HD 2.x with “assurance contract” or an Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.x before October 17 receive a free HDV update. For owners of Avid Xpress Pro 4.x, it costs 50 US dollars. The update is to be available in October.
After the acquisition of Pinnacle was recently approved (DP reported several times), it is now up to Avid to promote the new versions of the Deko series at IBC. They are intended to support SD and HD and contain new Realtime Behaviours such as “Attract,” “Repel,” “Bounce” and “Brighten.”
A new Multi-Compose and Multi-Store format makes it possible to store both the SD and HD versions in one file. During playout, the system automatically uses the format in which broadcasting is currently taking place.
The new DekoCast HD and DekoCast Hybrid (HD and SD) systems provide graphics, video/audio clips and DVE efects, for example to integrate SMS interactivity into the television program. The new Scene Creator is intended to be so easy to operate that even technically inexperienced or untrained employees can use it.
Deko 4.0 is expected to be available at the end of the year and is free for existing customers with a maintenance contract. Prices for the DekoHD and Deko Hybrid systems start at 29,000 US dollars; SceneCreator for DekoCast costs 2,995 US dollars.
