The audience of the 2005 Bitfilm Festival in Hamburg has decided on the winners: It was able to cast its vote in the six competition categories by SMS voting. The winners receive the Bitfilm robot as well as prize money of 1500 euros each.
In the “3D Space” category (three-dimensional animations from the computer), the short film “Fallen Art” by by Tomek Baginski (Poland), who had already been honored with an animago AWARD in spring 2005, won. In the “FX Mix” area (films using mixed techniques, for example live-action film combined with digital effects), “City Paradise” by Gaelle Denis (Great Britain) won
The “Flash Attack” section (animations produced with Macromedia Flash) was won by “Manege frei” by Ljubisa Djukic from Bielefeld. In “Machinima” (films shot in real time with game engines), the production “The Awakening” by April Hoffmann (USA) won. In the “Demoshow” area (audiovisual programs that access the PC’s processor), “Final Audition” by Michal Staniszewski/Plastic (Poland) prevailed. For the “Micromovies” (films for the small screens of mobile devices), the audience voted for “WC” by Alex Ehrlitzer and Nico Hammelmann (Hamburg) by Alex Ehrlitzer and Nico Hammelmann from Hamburg.
The seventh Bitfilm competition Subvisions (ultra-short films for subway screens) submissions are still possible until December 1, 2005. According to the organizers, for technical reasons this category could not be completed and evaluated at the same time as the others.
