Boris FX has released the public beta of its Boris Blue compositing and motion-graphics solution. The standalone program is based on the Boris Red plug-in and integrates 2D/3D compositing, 3D modeling and animation, title design, motion tracking and vector drawing functions, among other things. Blue uses the GPU of Nvidia graphics cards for hardware-based rendering and working in real time. The manufacturer describes the range of functions and features online on a product page with a download link (see address below).
Boris is offering the public beta as a free download, with this version expiring on April 1. The official start of delivery for the commercial version is expected in the second quarter. It is intended to cost 1,995 US dollars and initially be offered only for Windows computers: Boris holds out the prospect of a Mac version for “future releases.”
