Under the name “Windows Media Encoder Studio Edition Beta 1,” a first version of the encoding software for Microsoft’s implementation of the VC-1 video standard (WMV9) is now available on a Microsoft server. This means there is now a convenient user interface for the VC-1 codec that was released previously.
Its features include the ability to separately re-encode selected segments of a file, switch between 8-bit and 10-bit color depth if necessary, and support for certain hardware encoders as well as multiple audio tracks.
The download is approximately 4.5 megabytes in size.
