8th International Eyes & Ears Awards with new participation record

Eyes & Ears of Europe, the association for design, promotion and marketing of audiovisual media, reports record participation in the 8th International Eyes & Ears Awards. According to the organizer, a total of 409 entries have been submitted, which corresponds to an increase of around 8 percent.

“In particular, the newly created category ‘Best Design Print and/or Poster Advertising’ within the Eyes & Ears Awards 2006 also met with a strong response,” explains Wout Nierhoff, Managing Board Member of Eyes & Ears of Europe: “The broad participation in the Eyes & Ears Awards 2006 underlines the relevance of our award for the media and communications industry.”

The 8th International Eyes & Ears Awards will be presented on October 19, 2006, as part of the Munich Media Days. The entries and productions of the past twelve months that are most outstanding in terms of innovation & effectiveness will be honored. Prizes will be awarded in a total of 31 categories of media design, on-air, online and cross-promotion, as well as brand communication for audiovisual media.

According to information from the organizer, a total of 237 companies from twelve countries are involved in the 409 submissions for the Eyes & Ears Awards 2006. Productions from the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Austria, Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA and Germany were submitted. Within five expert juries of the European Council for Design, Promotion and Marketing of Audiovisual Media, a total of 93 finalists and 31 award winners will be determined in Strasbourg, Cologne, Vienna, Zurich and Brussels.

During the Eyes & Ears Awards event on October 19, 2006, the three best productions in each of the 31 categories in the areas of ‘TV/Film Design’, ‘Audio Design & Composition’, ‘Interactive Design, Promotion & Branding’ and ‘Promotion/Advertising/Image’, respectively, will be presented in a festive setting. The best entry in each case will then receive the Eyes & Ears Award 2006. In addition, the two Eyes & Ears Special Awards for innovation and effectiveness, respectively, will be presented for the seventh time – they are intended to honor the most impressive overall achievements of the past year in these respects. The highlight of the event will be the Eyes & Ears Excellence Award, which is being presented for the ninth time and honors outstanding and lasting contributions to the design and reflection of audiovisual communication.
