Alongside the presentation of 3ds Max 9 and Maya 8, Autodesk also announced a collaboration with Realviz: Realviz’s MMTrack tracking software, which is based on the MatchMover Pro 4 engine, is to be available from August 16, 2006, initially for one year, as a free plug-in for 3ds Max and Maya.

MMTrack Free provides automatic 2D tracking for objects as well as the conversion of camera pans and freely moving shots into 3D camera information. In doing so, the plug-in evaluates zoom, lens distortions and anamorphic lenses, and enables higher-quality results than the tracking solution supplied with 3ds Max. An exact list of the functions and differences from MatchMover Pro are available on the comparison page (see web link).

The official price for MMTrack had been 490 euros to date.
