Version 1.1 of BorisFX’s standalone 3D compositing tool Blue does not come with many new features, but promisses instead an acceleration for the existing effects. In combination with an Nvidia Quadro card, many effects can now be created and modified in real time, according to the manufacturer. Users who use the SDI option of the Quadro cards can also output their 3D composite directly from Boris Blue to video.
The update is to be available from October 2006; at the same time, it brings a price reduction of almost 50 percent for the full version: Boris Blue now costs 995 dollars, and the update is free for existing customers. The bundle of Boris Red and Boris Blue will cost 1,995 dollars. Anyone who already owns Boris Red pays only 595 dollars for Boris Blue.
