At the IBC, which ended a few days ago, the Munich company Iridas presented the new Speedgrade HD publicly for the first time.

The task of Speedgrade HD is colour grading in real time. Among other things, it supports primary and secondary colour grading, masks and pan & scan, and runs on appropriately powerful machines with suitable memory under both Mac OS (10.4) and Windows (2000/ XP).

Speedgrade HD reads and writes videos in the Quicktime and AVI format, including uncompressed Quicktime. It also supports the import of CMX3600 EDLs from Avid or Final Cut Pro. The user can then apply dissolves, Time Wwarps and other effects in real time and finally output the video again in the original colour depth, up to uncompressed Quicktime.

Speedgrade HD integrates into Iridas’ colour pipeline. Thus review sessions, including via a VPN, are possible with users who use Speedgrade DI.
