Natural Motion’s Endorphin software specializes in simulating the movements of virtual performers with the aid of artificial intelligence and behaviors. The manufacturer has now presented an update that brings a series of new features.

The new fluid effects are intended to enable physically plausible interaction of characters and objects with fluids in the broader sense, such as water, air, mud and the like.

Also new is a control panel plug-in for Maya that allows a Maya control rig to be transferred to an Endorphin character and, conversely, transfers Endorphin animation back to the Maya control rig.

Natural Motion has furthermore expanded the possible uses of forces and torques. There is a new parameter for sticky surfaces and the software supports the new Acclaim 2 file format.

Also new is a library with standard simulation performers and –props.

Endorphin 2.7 is available immediately for 9,495 dollars. For users with a valid maintenance contract, the update is free of charge. Alternatively, Natural Motion also rents the software for 1,195 dollars per month.

The Learning Edition is available immediately by download from the manufacturer’s website. It offers all the features of the full version, the product documentation and support via Natural Motion’s user forum.
