The next Adobe Production Studio will be available for Macintosh and Windows. Film, video and web professionals using After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator on Mac will also gain new Macintosh versions of Premiere Pro, Encore DVD and Soundbooth. Adobe planned to include them in the new suite from mid-2007 and to demonstrate the software publicly for the first time at Macworld 2007 in San Francisco from 9 to 12 January.
John Loiacono, Senior Vice President of Adobe’s Creative Solutions Business Unit, said customers wanted every Production Studio component on both Mac and Windows. He described the forthcoming cross-platform suite and new editions of Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects as a response to those requests.
Soundbooth will replace Audition as the suite’s audio editor. The less complex application is designed for recording, editing and adapting sound and music for web and video production. Adobe will continue developing Audition separately for Windows.
The company expected the new Production Studio to ship in mid-2007. Premiere Pro, Encore DVD and Soundbooth will support Intel-based Macs. New versions of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator will ship as Universal Binaries for PowerPC and Intel Macs. Production Studio and all components will remain available for Windows.
