Matrox’s new DualHead2Go Digital Edition generates two separate digital display outputs from just one VGA signal for a combined screen workspace of up to 3840 x 1200 pixels (2x 1920 x 1200). The graphics expansion module does not contain its own graphics accelerator, but rather a patent-pending Matrox technology, and uses the graphics hardware present in the computer for 2D, 3D and video. Image quality is preserved: pixels are neither added, distorted nor scaled.
The module makes it possible to connect external displays to a laptop or desktop without having to open the computer case. For the operating system and thus all software applications, the device is effectively only a single monitor, but twice (DualHead2Go) or three times (TripleHead2Go) as wide. Thanks to the larger desktop area, windows no longer have to be minimized, moved or temporarily closed, for example. All important information remains visible at all times and the user can work more effectively.
Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition costs 239 euros including 19 percent value-added tax and is expected to be available from March 2007. The module supports Microsoft Windows Vista, 2000 and XP (including 64-bit) and Mac OS X on many workstations, laptops or desktop computers.
