In 2007, DIGITAL PRODUCTION is organising the 11th animago Award with a revised structure reflecting technical development across DCC sectors and growing international participation. The changes aim to make the categories clearer and give winners greater prominence. An expert jury will select work across film, still and interactive sections in ten categories:
- Best Production (Grand Prize)
The year’s best overall production, taking its use of DCC techniques into account.
- Best International Feature Production
The best feature film produced substantially with digital technology.
- Best University Production (Emerging Talent Prize)
The best completed DCC project from a public or private university.
- Best Emerging Talent Production
The best non-commercial production created privately and exclusively with DCC tools.
- Best Technical Achievement
The strongest use of existing DCC tools or development of new technology to advance realism, aesthetics or creative possibilities.
- Best Idea
The best underlying concept for a DCC production.
- Best Character
The most convincing CG character in movement, facial animation, texturing and credibility.
- Best Visualisation
The most successful visual explanation of a subject, product or process using DCC methods.
- Best Still
The still image judged strongest in design, aesthetics and effective use of DCC.
- Best Interactive Production
The most compelling production designed for interaction with the user.
The deadline for all entries is 30 June 2007. Producers of the best work in each category will receive an animago trophy. The award ceremony will take place on 8 November 2007 during a major evening event at DC Days in Karlsruhe.
