Chyron proudly announced at the NAB that the company had achieved an immense 40 percent increase in revenue in the 41st year of its existence. Several newly acquired key customers, such as FOX Sports, had made this leap possible.
But there are also some new products: for example Lyric Pro 7. The new version supports several timelines simultaneously, which can contain almost all Font Sets and complex scripts. Interactive “Messages” enable communication between different elements on the timeline whereby complex controls and event-based animations become possible.
New particle effects and realtime shaders provide a better look.
Version 7 has an FBX import filter. This makes it possible to transfer 3D scenes from 3ds Max, Maya and other programs, including the animations and materials, directly into Lyric Pro.
The integration of Adobe XMP makes it possible to evaluate metadata entered in Adobe programs or other software that supports XMP. Individual metadata can also be read and used as text objects in the animation.
Customisable basic bodies bring flexibility to Lyric, so the user can now make pie charts or other statistical displays dependent on figures entered live.
The “Pie FX” module contains several real-time effects from the Sapphire plug-ins that can be used directly in real time.
Chyron is bringing another new feature to the mobile communications market: the Mobile Suite, already announced at IBC 2006, can now be seen at NAB 2007. It consists of the Wapstr and Mos2wap products. With the help of these two programs, anyone can upload images, audio and video files recorded with a mobile phone directly to the news server via a corresponding WAP page. From there, the uploaded content can be inserted automatically into prefabricated graphics and is then immediately ready for broadcast. This makes it easier to use footage from “mobile-phone journalists”. It is not known when the Mobile Suite will be available; Chyron did not name a price.
Chyron also presented updated hardware products: HyperX 2, Lex 2 and Solo 2. Naturally, the new version 7 of Lyric Pro runs on all systems.
The new HyperX 2 offers several new features such as: dual rendering on two channels in HD simultaneously, an integrated video and audio mixer, optional 3D DVEs and a second video input for them.
The systems are available immediately. Chyron did not name a price, as it depends on the configuration of the systems.
